A quadrillion cells on your body... that aren't human!

The human body is made of about 100 trillion human cells.
The human body also contains about a quadrillion non-human cells.

That's right.  You are 90% microbe.

You might not change much over the course of your life, but each day, those microbes keep growing and changing according to how you live your life.  What you eat, what kind of life you lead, how often you bathe, everything affects your microbes.

You need your microbes to stay healthy.  They protect you against harmful microbes and help you get the most out of your food.  They might even affect the way you think.  So respect your microbiome!

Let's start by trying to learn something about how we affect our microbes through our diet.
